Current information about the MATLAB Campus-Wide license at MENDELU
Mendel University in Brno now offers a campus-wide academic license for MATLAB — the Campus-Wide Suite. With this license, students and staff may install MATLAB and most of its toolboxes on their personal computers. This enables convenient access to MATLAB's extensive capabilities for study, teaching, research and creative activities.
What is MATLAB
MATLAB is an integrated environment for engineering and scientific computations, modeling and simulation. It can be used for data processing and analysis, signal and image processing, modeling physical systems, optimization, control system design and many other engineering tasks. It includes many functions such as machine learning and artificial intelligence methods, including deep neural networks. It supports big data processing, 3D imaging, code generation for various platforms, real-time workflows and more. MATLAB's data visualization tools are powerful and easy to use. MATLAB provides its own programming language and a range of graphical interfaces. Its applications range from technical and natural sciences to social sciences and industrial use.
MATLAB is modular — besides the core product it includes about a hundred add-on toolboxes focused on specific domains. For example, Simulink supports dynamic system simulation using prebuilt blocks. Stateflow supports event-driven systems. Many add-ons offer libraries of specialized functions or prepared interfaces for intuitive use. All functions are well documented and often linked to published references in the help.
What the Campus-Wide Suite includes
The Campus-Wide Suite includes MATLAB and most of its toolboxes. Individual installations are available to every staff member and student via the portal:
https://www.mathworks.com/academia/tah-portal/mendelu-31494269.html
The license is for academic use only and may not be used for commercial purposes.
The license also provides access to online training for all Mendel University staff and students. The offer currently includes a number of courses covering various topics, from short introductory sessions to extensive advanced courses such as machine learning and statistics. Each course issues a certificate upon completion.
Cloud services included: MATLAB Online (MATLAB in a web browser without installation), MATLAB Drive (5 GB per user) and MATLAB Mobile for mobile device access.
For compute-intensive workloads you can use MATLAB Parallel Server to run an unlimited number of parallel workers.
Teachers may find MATLAB Grader useful for automated grading of student assignments in MATLAB.
The administrator of the Campus-Wide Suite license at MENDELU is Ing. Jakub Olšar from the IT Department at MENDELU. Contact him for requests about network installations for classrooms or other special installations.
